The exhibition entitled "The Language of Dynamic Media" presents the work from the Dynamic Media Institute, graduate program in design at Massachusetts College of Art, developed between 2000 and 2005. The Dynamic Media Institute's participants—professional graphic designers, industrial designers, architects, web developers, media artists—focus on the role and possible new uses of dynamic media in design for information and communication. Their work exhibited at the Doran gallery, represents the wide range of investigations—screen-based interfaces for interactive learning tools, studies in participatory narratives, motion and sound studies, human-scale physical interfaces and installations—all of which aim to contribute a fresh practice and research in new media to the discipline of communication design.

Designers exhibited include, among others: Lauren Bessen, Julia Griffey, Carolin Horn, Evan Karatzas, Carlos Luneta, Isabel Meirelles , Leila Lee Mitchell, Sam Montague, Keiko Mori, Kate Nazemi, Christine Pillsbury, Heather Shaw, and Mike Wiggins.

A 200-page catalog of the same title elucidates exhibited work through short articles describing each project in detail, complemented by numerous black-and-white photographs, illustrations, diagrams, and sequential stills representing on-screen interfaces, animations and movies. The catalog also includes thesis abstracts of all MFA degree projects since 2000, the program’s curriculum structure and course descriptions, with a list of faculty, advisors, critics and all DMI alumni and current students from 2000 on, as well as four short essays by Dynamic Media Institute professors, each referring to the language of dynamic media and their individual approaches to dynamic media design education.

The exhibition curated by Jan Kubasiewicz, was organized by the Dynamic Media Institute at Massachusetts College of Art, with the extensive help from its alumni, current students and faculty.
