Eureka! A Love Story

Griffey, Julia

This project was created to fulfill the requirement of an assignment given in Professor Kubasiewicz's Dynamic Typography course. The instructions for this assignment were simply to create a short narrative film. Students could choose between two themes: ñEureka!î or "Cogito Ergo Sum" (I think therefore I am). The decision to incorporate type was left up to the student.

The theme I decided to use for my narrative was "Eureka!" This term is most frequently associated with finding or discovering something after a long search. The "Eureka!" moment on which I decided to base my movie was that of finding love after a long search.

The premise of the movie is that the letter Q is a lonely bachelor who is fed up with his life of solitude and sets out to find his match. In his pursuit, he approaches different letters and is repeatedly rejected. The Eureka moment occurs when the U finally meets his soul mate.
